Grunge. It's like the anti-'80's. What a musically bankrupt decade. I had trouble coming up with 10 songs. Although, some of the artists had multiple possible entries, but I just picked one each to represent. The only good to come out of the 90's was re-meeting my bride, stock options on Yahoo and my first born. Peeper, I'm sure you'll have some input. Anyway, here's my list...
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
U2 - One
Beck - Loser
Radiohead - Creep
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Stone Roses - I wanna be adored (technically released in July of 1989)
No Doubt - Don't Speak
Green Day - When I come around
Phish - Bliss
Pearl Jam - Jeremy
Oh, I am so disappointed in you. However, it is a different time of growing up. I was in college experiencing the music and you were experiencing the grown-up work life. Here is what you are missing:
ReplyDeleteRadiohead - OK Computer - probably the best album from the 90's
Pearl Jam - Ten - Alive, Black
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish - Rhinoceros, Melon Collie - Tonight, Tonight and Muzzle
Oasis - Champagne Supernova
Dave Matthews - ants marching, under the table and dreaming
Blur - song 2
Creed, Garbage, Alanis Morissette, Bush, Foo Fighters, Verve, too many others to mention. I think the 90's was too loud for ya.
Forgot Live & Counting Crows as major contributions.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Who are you writing for? You forgot REM, Dave Mathews Band, Phish, Jane's Addiction, RHCP, and so many many others. Bad list. Bad. And it wasn't all grunge, the music of the 90s. You might want to include Madonna.
ReplyDeleteNo, I might not want to add Madonna (who peaked in the 80's, although I do like Ray of Light). Phish was an obvious oversight - so, I removed Soundgarden. Dude: radiohead and pearl jam are represented. It's only a top 10 list. Not a fan of Oasis or Pumpkins. DMB, Creed, and Live are good, but don't make the top 10 cut (Alanis, really?). And they weren't too loud, as I have listed Nirvana, Jam, Weezer and Green Day. I stand by my list.
