Surviving the solstice

Well, we have survived the bleakest of all days:  the winter solstice - the shortest, darkest of days.  Day lengths are on the upswing now.  Sun spans stretching.  I look forward to those two weeks in June when it's actually sunny when I drive to work.  This solstice was especially gloomy, for it has rained for 37 days straight.  Well, it feels like it.  Frank wasn't kidding when he sang, "California, it's cold and it's damp..."  The county is actually in an emergency state due to flooding and mudslides.  If your mud slides, is it still your property?  Walking the dogs today during a respite, the sidewalks were literally rivers that would the BG creek to shame.  Oh well, it'll be hammock season soon enough.
